Career Develop
Posted by Karthik Kannan from Salem, IN on November 2, 2009

Dear Joel,

I am an Electrical Engineer passed out on 2008. Still Searching a job. I cant find out what kind of fault I had made in my career path. I submitted my resume all over the country and some of the companies I applied are Siemens, Punj LLoyd, Areva T&D, etc.,

I know the basic Autocad, basic operation and programming of Programming Logic Controller.

I had completed one year Graduate Apprentice Trainee in Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, Tamil Nadu State, India. In the department of Operation and Maintenance of Distribution Lines.

My area of interest is Operation and Maintenance. So my question is What kind of improvement will needed to develop my career to achieve my dream job.

Regards,

B Karthik Kannan

Dear Karthik,

You have not necessarily made a fault in your career path. I am not sure if you are seeking work in India or in the US. If in the US, I recommend you join LinkedIn.com and communicate with recruiters, as well as with other job seekers. I'm not sure if that will be as helpful in India, but it is worth exploring; there is no charge.

Your challenge in finding your dream job is first to define it clearly. What precisely are you seeking? And is there a need in the market? Exploring these points can help you see what you must do next..

Warmly,
Joel
